De Sales International Film and Media Academy (DeSIFMA), established by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS) known as Fransalians, has a rich history dating back to its founding in Annecy, France in 1838.
The academy is managed by the General Administration from Rome. The Fransalians have been serving in the field of education worldwide, known as the SFS or De Sales Group of Educational Institutions.
DeSIFMA is known for its quality teaching and practical approach to film making. The academy offers well-designed courses focused on equipping students with in-depth knowledge of filmmaking and instilling confidence to work achieve success in the film industry.Â
The curriculum emphasizes a unique blend of theory and practice, enabling students to master the fundamentals of media and film production swiftly and embark on successful careers.
The academy offers five specialized courses: 1) Scriptwriting and Film Direction, 2) Photography and Cinematography, 3) Editing and Post-production, 4) Graphic Designing, 5) Sound Engineering and 6) Acting. These courses range from one-year, six-month and three month diploma courses and one month certificate courses. The duration of the courses are One year, Six months, Three months and One month.
In addition to structured courses, DeSIFMA provides access to media students its facilities for projects works.
Upon successful completion of the courses at DeSIFMA, students receive a Diploma in Film Technology from DeSIFMA. In addition, they are awarded one-year and six-month diploma from the Council for Vocational Education and Skill Development (CVESD), which is licensed by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. This dual certification enables students to secure suitable positions in the film industry as well as create a career of their own in the media field

B. Lenin is a distinguished Indian film editor, writer, and director known for his work in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema. The son of renowned filmmaker A. Bhimsingh, Lenin started as an assistant editor and debuted as an independent editor with Mahendran's acclaimed film Uthiripookkal in 1979. In the mid-1980s, Lenin began a successful partnership with his assistant V. T. Vijayan, editing over a hundred films in multiple languages, including an English film titled Eli My Friend. Lenin has earned five National Film Awards for his editing and direction. In 2011, he served as the chairman of the Film Federation of India, underscoring his influence in the industry.
S. A. Chandrasekar, a distinguished Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor, serves as a guest faculty member at DeSIFMA. He introduced actor Vijay and directed several of his early films, including Naalaiya Theerpu (1992), Senthoorapandi (1993), Rasigan (1994), Deva (1995), and Vishnu (1995). Throughout his prolific career, Chandrasekar has directed over 70 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, with a significant number featuring Vijayakanth and Vijay. Known for his focus on social issues, his expertise and mentorship have greatly influenced the film industry, benefiting students at DeSIFMA.
